Focus on Spending Time Together

When it comes to rewarding your child, remember that there is more to life than material things. Kori Ellis notes, "Respect from others and pride in ourselves are also key benefits of hard work" (Ellis 1). It is also important to not reward your child with gifts to form a parental bond. It is pivotal that you teach your kids that you are a support for them emotionally and spiritually, not just monetarily. Rather than reward them with money, reward them with a family outing or activity. There is no need to reinforce the idea that money is everything. Kids need to learn that bonds with people are important too.
