Modern Connecions and Problem Solving

Today’s society is one where the themes of personal responsibility, accountability, and discipline are as skewed as a snow cloud in the desert.  Not enough individuals have a strong understanding of these values.  We, as contributing members of society, need to teach children that these ideals are very important because society itself has lost a strong sense of actual work ethic.  This needs to change.  A modern example is unemployment.  It is very high and the job market is in a perilous pliant.  There must be incentives for hard work because, without these incentives, America’s youth will not do anything productive, and the natural flow of society will inevitably follow suit.

From high school students to leaders of the corporate world, one can see these issues arise in everyday life.  In the early years of life, one can scrape by on the surface and get by without working hard.  The student then goes on to follow the same procedure through college and he or she does not learn their lesson.  Then, he or she enters the business world only to find he or she cannot keep up with the work and are soon fired.  They try to change as they take more jobs only find further failure due to a lack of effort.  They then find themselves running out of money.  The checks then begin to come in from Uncle Sam and find he or she is doing just fine without working.  This problem is found across our country.  Funds are going to a group of people unwilling to work because they have no incentive.  Instead of going towards more important things like the deficit or the education program, it goes to these without a hard work ethic.  This lack of a work ethic becomes infective between parents and children and between children and other children.  It begins to disrupt the fabric of ourselves, our families, our schools, our communities, and, ultimately, our country.  We must take action with our generation.  The adult world is corrupt; we have to act on the children of today.  This way, they do not pass on these detrimental traits to their children and the cycle continues.
